Sissa Micheli is involved in the exhibition "MOUNTAIN PIECES. Reflecting History", an exhibition conceived especially for the LUMEN, she deals with the theme of war and peace and confronts visitors not only with the beauty of the South Tyrolean mountains, but also with their warlike past. Scenes of their artistic exploration are selected war zones and places of the Alpine wall in the mountain massifs of Alta Pusteria. The focus is on interventions commemorating the fallen of World War I on the Alpine front. Sometimes the artist herself also takes on the role of the protagonist in her works and thus becomes part of the pictorial scenario. Her self-portrayal represents a form of symbolic representation that refers to the examination of identity and history. By means of photography and video, Sissa Micheli irritates, ironizes, and critically questions, allowing the viewer to find her own interpretations and meanings of peace in the backdrop of the mountains.
